Week 3 Day 2:
Lecture 1:

2 world wars 2 great Europeans killed the world.
·
Before 1914 Europe had been the center of the
world.
·
Before the First World War, no one could imagine
could be like.
·
At 1991, Winston Churchill was elected to the
House of Commons.
·
Germany and Austria felt the balance.
·
Those who weren’t killed suffered for a long
time.
·
After the corpses had been buried anyone can
visit them.
·
America kept the supplies that France and
Britain used for war.
·
Europe was unsettled.
·
4 empires had crumbled. The Russian, Austrian,
Britain, German.
·
They thought the first war was a game.
Lecture 2:
·
The domino effect is the falling down of other
blocks when you push one of them.
·
German built its navy quickly.
·
British felt challenged and still wanted to have
the biggest navy.
·
All countries had allies: Triple Entente and
Triple Alliance.
·
Franz Ferdinand of Austria was a prince who fell
in love with Sophie. Their relationship was never admitted, though.
·
When both Franz Ferdinand and Sophie were
walking, they were shot on 28th June 1914.
·
This all led to World War 1.
·
Serbia and Russia wanted to attack Germany.
Lecture 3:
·
The First World War was the most terrible war
the world had ever known.
·
Soldiers faced the enemy acrossed a few hundred
metres of churned up ground known as no man’s land.
·
Each side’s trenches were so heavily defended
that it was impossible to attack them successfully.
·
In 1917 the war was still in a state of
stalemate.
·
The germans now launched a final enormous attack
on France.
